Things you might like to know.

Qualifications and insurance.

My level 3 and level 4 sports massage qualifications were awarded by Active IQ.

I am insured with Balens.

I’ve also registered with the Sports Massage Association, and intend to become a ‘full’ member after completing my level 5 later in 2026.

Doesn't sports massage hurt?!

I get that sports massage has a reputation that precedes it.

While some techniques might require a bit more pressure, and there is a minimal chance of bruising, it doesn’t need to outright ‘hurt’.

I will keep checking in with you throughout, to make sure you’re comfortable. In the unlikely event that it’s too much, I’ll adjust as necessary, just say!

Or, you can always opt for a more relaxed, swedish style massage as an initial session and discuss future options from there.

For an initial assessment

It can be helpful to bring shorts and a vest

This is so I can look at your posture without baggy or bulky clothing misleading me. I might also want you to move around a little to better understand your mobility and where the aches & pains are.

For subsequent sessions, you’ll mostly be in lower body underwear, or shorts, and tucked under a towel.

Allergies & Contraindications.

When you book, I’ll send you a form to fill out. This will ask about your allergies & contra-indictions.

Contra-indications are things that mean massage should be adapted or avoided. For example it could be a health condition, or recent surgery.

If you have any queries or concerns, feel free to discuss before booking.

Appropriate Attire

Just so we’re all comfortable, please wear underwear or small shorts on your lower half, at all times.

What if I'm not sporty?!

Sports massage isn’t just for the athletes among us.

It’s also ideal for those with hectic lives, and general aches & pains.

For example, you might be at a desk, hunched over a computer for hours each day, with a sore back and shoulder that needs addressing.
